It's a textual near-necessity that Verra be killed by Godslayer in The
Last Contract -- given the name of the book, and what we've been told
about Godslayer (it -will- kill Verra, not it -can- kill Verra, IIRC;
if I don't, the ability to do that in specific is very important).
Additionally, Verra messing with Vlad's memory in a this-obvious way
primes him to be open to the idea in the future -- which seems less
than likely to be an accident.
But really -- let us assume that Vlad kill Verra in the last book.
Given what we know of Vlad, and what we know of Verra, and assuming he
hasn't gone corrupt or something in the intervening time who's the most
likely person to have arranged this?
The whyfores (perhaps Verra is herself one of the Jenoine's "ins" in
addition to one of their greatest foes), or facts proving me wrong,
I'm happy to let unfold free of undue speculation.
