I'm just guessing here, but apparently one of the Hungarian words for
"enchantment" is Varázs [1], which I imagine sounds a bit like Verra.
Compare to the "quick story" at the start of Chapter 8 of Issola, in which
"another name for Magic is Verra."

"Hungarian to English" dictionary.  Specifically, this appears to be the
sort of magic used to trick or seduce someone--see "nemi varázs" (sex
appeal) and "varázserõ" (witchcraft).
