[Dragaera] McCaffrey FHYA?

In Chapter the Thirtieth of FHYA, we read "the high reaches
of the Dragon Wing were but ill-heated at the best of times."

Is this an allusion to Anne McCaffrey's Pern series?

For anyone who hasn't read it: There's a High Reaches Weyr (a
place where tame dragons live) and the dragons are organized
into wings. Also, he Pern series must be one of Dragaera's
ancestors as a successful example of the lost-human-colony-
reverted-to-swords-and-lords-and-psionics subgenre. In
particular, the conversations between Vlad and Loiosh is
highly reminiscent of the italicized telepathic conversations
between humans and their dragons--or fire lizards, the
dragons' shoulder-perching relatives--on Pern. And you'd
probably enjoy /Dragonflight/ at least.
