What do you mean? Isn't it just a matter of helping to maintain the facade?

I think there's a distiniction between being good friends with both
(which Aliera is as well), and working with one or the other on a
complicated project.
There are behaviors and mannerisms that might come up in professional
mode which would not be seen in social mode (and vice-versa), which I
think is what Vlad picked up on originally.
Although, speaking of cracks, I find it odd now that Aliera got her
boyfriend to inform Vlad of Cawti's troubles, and yet when Vlad talked
to Aliera about about helping Cawti, Aliera did not quite seem to know
at first why Cawti might need Vlad's assistance. I mean, maybe Aliera
had just been aching to chew Vlad out on Cawti's behalf, and feigned
ignorance so that she could get to the chewing-out part, but it still
seems... inconsistent.
