Not in BW, I think. But I guess it must have been somebody else's theory.

Sure. But we also have evidence that messing with memories is possible
to do, and that Verra does it to her worshippers, of whom Morrolan is
one. So the idea of false memories hasn't lost any credibility after
/Dzur/, whether they're Morrolan's or Vlad's.
