Taltos, Chapter 8, Paragraph 160:
[Cite]
"Does the guy have dark hair that he wears plastered straight back, kind
of a wide face, big shoulders, a short neck, and a little white scar
across his nose?"
"I've never noticed the scar, but, yeah, that sounds right."
[End cite]
So... From Neilar's response, I would conclude that either this scar was
very recent, was not terribly visible, or was perhaps completely
imaginary (on the part of Vlad).
From this, we can conclude that either
a) The Orca simply hadn't had the time to get it removed yet, or
b) It was so minor that it was hardly worth the expense of removing, or
c) Vlad simply imagined it was there, given that he talked to the guy
for all of about 20 seconds.
Seeing that this was Vlad's very first job, and he was caught off guard
and a bit nervous during the encounter, I'd consider option (c) to be
fairly likely.
Beyond that, the other two explanations work pretty well, also.
Or else the Orca had a sentimental attachment of his own to that tiny
little scar. You never can tell.
