IIRC, he says he doesn't remember his father's ever referring to her except as "that witch". Longtime listies may recall my proposing the theory that she's his mother quite some years ago.

Ah but it made for great story-telling. I do find the notion that  
Verra is Vlad's mother to be interesting.  A pity there is nothing on  
Noish-pa or Vlad's father's side to  corroborate in some what that he  
was "adopted", or his mother (does he ever mention his mother?) wasn't
  
his real mom.
