Other possibilities: "parasitic" jobs like advertising,
managing entertainers and entertainment venues (though the
musicians' managers in /Phoenix/ aren't Jhereg, which
suggests that Steve may not think of these jobs as parasitic
the way some others do), aide to politicians and wealthy
people, manager (but not repairer) of rental properties,
repo man (unless the Orca handle that), eviction specialist
(as in /Roger and Me/). I'll bet a few of the Corn Exchange's
employees are legit Jhereg.

Private detective? Private security?

And since jhereg are scavengers, salvage.

Or my state legislature's annual attempts to control "predatory
lending".

Jhereg might make excellent pawnbrokers and payday lenders,
but Orca banks probably handle what our banks handle, and the
kneecap-secured loan is a Right Hand activity that we know
about, of course.
