Do we ever learn who revealed that Aliera had chaos stones in her rooms? Does anyone understand Greycat's comment (pg 168, ppb) that he "carr[ies] a place of safety with [him] at all times"? If it was someone very different, I might think he means he can always kill himself if necessary.
