Since Davdi seems to have ignored this in his revisions, I'm going to reply
to the list.  I hope you don't mind:

Nonetheless, it appears to be how Paarfi refers to him.  For example, I
found the following references in just the first few pages of /The Phoenix
Guards/ and /Five Hundred Years After/:

The Cast of Characters in /TPG/ lists him as "His Majesty Tortaalik I"

The first sentence of /TPG/ includes "His Imperial Majesty Tortaalik I of
the House of the Phoenix"

The front page of /FHYA/ gives the short date as "The 532nd Year of the
Reign of Tortaalik the First"

The Cast of Characters in /FHYA/ lists him as "Tortaalik I"

The first sentence of /FHYA/ includes "His Imperial Majesty, Tortaalik I, of
the House of the Phoenix"
