I thought about that (and it is a rather nice way of dealing with it) however that makes Vlad _very_ picky since in addition to the sandwish-thingies they also had another course (which included rice) and a selection of fruit for the remove.

My guess is that Vlad was cognizant of the fact that Teldra had fed him
sandwich-thingies twelve hours before and didn't consider it to count as a
"meal," either because there weren't enough courses or because dining at
Valabar's makes one pickier about such things.
