Because Nightwand is busy keeping 'all' of the god there -- and can't probably get through the defenses easily anyhow..  IIRC, the Gods more-or-less agreed that Morrolan's whacking of Tri'nagore's aspect was a fluke due to Tri's gross stupidity -- but then again, can we really trust Paarfi, either in his description of Morrolan's battle with Tri'nagore (if there even was one) or in the 'opinion' of the Gods?

I can't honestly imagine that there's a god of Dragaera who wouldn't set up major defenses in the moments before they went up against a Great Weapon.  And in the above scenario, you'd have the same situation as you did with Blackwand, Iceflame, and Pathfinder stymied by the power of the god's defenses.  Godslayer is designed to go through them like a hot knife through butter.
