That depends entirely upon the physics of the phenomenon. In systems
with negative feedback, constant input is required to maintain high
valued equilibria. (How long and hard do you have to pump a toy
machine gun to get it to keep making noise 30 seconds after you
cease?) 240 years is plenty of time in physical terms, more than
enough time for the Enclouding to "leak" away, if the physics favors
it.
