Personally, I would think it is the arrogance of a writer who has survived
despite all the attempts to discredit him.  We can look at Salmon Rushdie
for example.  He mocks because he thinks he can get away with it.

And of course, if he is as talented as he thinks he is, he probably thinks
he knows Morrolan's nature.  But I doubt we'd be seeing Paarfi at Castle
Black for longer than a dinner.
