Went out to Borders yesterday at lunch, nabbed it, read it. (Now when's
the next one? (-: )

What I like most is how this Vlad isn't quite the same one as the one
we've been seeing in =Dzur= & =Issola=. I would think getting the
nuances of character right as you jump around the time line & the
character evolves to be a hard writing job, but this one strikes me as
taking just the right tone & showing the right Vlad. Well done!

Now for the basically insignificant spoilers:

I found myself trying to figure out what Burz reminded me of & found
myself reaching for Poisonville in, um, =Red Harvest= w/ Hammett's
Continental Op. Dunno why, exactly; just had a similar flavor, small
town, corruption, mysterious history & you can't trust anyone. Been a
while since I've read it, so it could be all wrong: it was just a stray
memory impression. Vlad's solving the mystery in, um, unique posture is
a nice touch.

However, what really intrigued me was trying to figure out what the
chapter headings reminded me of. I was holding out for Tuppence and
Tommy, then Lord Peter & Lady Harriet, but finally plumped for Nick and
Nora Charles. And I'd *really* like to read/see performed the play,
now! Sounds like it would be a hoot (-:
