The names of the jhegaala's developmental stages look and sound like real
biological words, but (except for "egg") I'm pretty sure they're all
invented. Raw Google hits:

   - Apoptera: 2, both in Swedish, typos for *adoptera*, meaning 'adopt'
   - Steminastria: 0
   - Notonide: 0
   - Levidopt: 1, and an interesting one:
       http://www.archive.org/stream/sil34_02_07/sil34_02_07.txt
coresia Timetes (God.), J. O. Westwood in Doubleday & 'tV., Gen.
   diurn. Levidopt. II
       (1850), 263.-Nymphalis.
It's a typo or a misscan for "Lepidopt.", an abbreviation for
"lepidoptera", the order of insects that includes butterflies and moths.
Similarly, there are 8 raw googits for "levidoptera", all errors for the
full word. Here's one of them:

There are four stages of butterfly development. During each stage, there
are entirely different biological needs of the organism which must be met to
develop a garden which will attract and hold butterflies. The first is the
*egg *which is generally laid on the leaves of a plant. This plant
becomes the host plant which the *larvae *the second stage eat. During
this stage the larvae grow rapidly. The caterpillar - larval stage - can
molt four to five times till they go into *chrysalis *stage. When the
insects emerge from this stage they are fully developed *butterflies*.
During this stage they feed on nectar plants.
