So did the Aztecs. (Son was telling us over dinner the other night about
that day's history class.) The conquistadores were rather surprised at some
of their uses. Before a battle, they would see the enemy warriors repeatedly
pressing down on rocks with the butt of their spears. "What are they DOING?
... ¡Ayyyy!"

They had a weapon, whose name I forget, with a lot of obsidian flakes set in
a row along a stout stick. (Think of a glass saw.) A warrior could behead a
horse in battle with this thing. "¡¡¡Dios mí---!!! argghhhhhh"
