I think you're underestimating the importance of Kieron to the populace as a 
whole. Killing him would be one thing, if you could show that it was 
neccesary and if the result was a handover of the Orb. (By definition, any 
change in administration that results in a handover of the Orb is a turning 
of the Cycle; i.e., destiny.) Dishonoring him would be quite another. Why 
deny him the afterlife once you've removed his corporeal threat? Anyone who 
would treat a hero in such a fashion is someone that would be setting 
themselves up for a short reign, I'd say.
