It says that she's both an experienced general and very old. She does
not have the same attitude towards death that you do.

Of course, it doesn't have to be callous. She might have also thought
that "rescuing" Vlad from Noish-pa's clutches by saving Vlad's dad was
not particularly necessary even from Vlad's standpoint.
