Or my favorite theory, Piro might be the Daemon. (I've cited some scanty
and obscure textev before). It might explain some of the Jhereg's
unusually high amount of influence in the empire for a group that
supposedly is at the bottom of the cycle. It also might explain
Zerika's internal conflicts in Iorich. She possibly has one friend and
major supporter pushing for actions that cause her to do nasty things to
another major supporter. I'd want a couple of drinks too in that
situation.

One of the things I enjoy about the books is that so much happens that
Vlad really doesn't know about. We get hints from odd unexplainable
behaviors of the few characters Vlad interacts with. He has hooks into
some parts of society and sort of knows what's going on. Other parts
where he doesn't have access affect him without clear reasons. We only
see Vlad's limited slice of information and probably can't even trust
all of what he reports.
