I know *lots* of people older than 80 - living in the retirement home
with my mother and mother-in-law. I remember being a young adult when
I didn't come across young children often, then noticing those
"miniature human beings". But when I had my own, they were everywhere,
as my friends were also parents.

There is a tendency to think what we see is universal - which is why
lots of people assume they are politically in the majority - it's who
they hang out with.
