I don't think Sethra scans every square - what's the unit of area current 
in Vlad's time? - every time.  Anyway I would think the sword has been 
there for a very long time.  Perhaps Daymar inadvertently disturbed it 
enough to make a noticeable signal though not enough to wake it?

It's interesting to consider that Telnan wouldn't have survived the 
encounter, or rather been able to trigger it, without Daymar.  What did 
Sethra have in mind for the eventuality that Daymar happened to be away 
for a time?

Anyway, assuming Sethra wasn't lying, the blockage is odd.

Also it's a bit odd about Daymar screaming when assaulted by Nightslayer's 
presence - I'd think he'd be the last person to notice.

This takes place in 230 of Zerika's reign, so I suspect it's before 240 
PI, when Aliera is reincorporated.
