Of course, the most likely reference is a Zelazny one. And it did
occur to me that the most appropriately bloodthirsty of Corwin's
brothers is probably Julian -- and I see, checking the obvious place,
that Julian is portrayed as having "dark hair hanging long, blue eyes
containing neither passion nor compassion."

That still leaves "His skin was a shade of gold I’d never seen
before", though.  But then it occurred to me -- could "a shade of
gold" in fact mean ...  *amber*?

If that was the intent, then I do believe SKZB deserves *such* a smack.
