I'm not competent to evaluate poker players.  Locally, Adam Stemple is the
other poker player who writes fantasy that leaps to mind, but I have no
idea which would be a better poker player.

And I don't know if Tim Powers actually plays poker, or merely writes
about it sometimes :-).
