[Dragaera] Clapping

When there is no door, I can see clapping sometimes being heard in small rooms (they didn't have TV sets blaring).    We have read about clapper, which would work for rooms with doors.    But we have doorbells because knocking doesn't work often.   But we don't have access to magic - which theoretically can enhance the sound of clapping.    We have seen crime exists enough to make doors essential.
