What do people think about why morganti weapons effect easterners
differently than they do dragaerans?

First off, how do morgantis work? My esteemed wife suggest they are
planes, and do not destroy the soul, but rather bind them. The
Necromancer, therefore, may regard GWs are places and/or persons, but (if
my wife's theory is correct) certainly not things. Do GWs drink the soul
and add its power/potency to their own?

There seems to be a "science" to sorcery, and I believe that it's caught up
in symbols. There seems to be a symbolic (read: magical) relationship in
dragaera between death and sleep. I wouldn't be surprised if this
connection between death and sleep is what makes Dragaerans feel all
soporific when surrounded by, say, hundreds of Morganti blades, as per
_Dragon_. If sleep is the lesser cousin of death--that soporific feeling
that is experienced by Dragaerans may just be a kind of attuned
"premonition" of impending death. Attuned to what? Chaos? The orb? The
easterner soul being less attuned naturally speaking, (...what?) it instead
reacts with panic, fear and loathing--emotions that have much less
specificity as relates to the provoking factor. Ie, Dragaerans can put a
finger on the feeling: it's death, straight-up. Easterners have less of a
clue, and so they react with generalized fear--which is associated with the
unknown.

There's also a very common theme in the Vladiad: Companionship. Very VERY
close companionship. Eclipsing mere connection; leaning more towards
actual union.

Shall I list the occurrences?

Vlad + 4x companions, (Loiosh, Rocza, Cawti (to a lesser degree, as is
evidenced by his separation), Teldra)
Wielder + GW in general (Vlad + Teldra, Morrolan + Blackwand, Sethra +
Iceflame, Aliera + Pathfinder, Telnan + Nightslayer)
Any witch + their familiar(s), (odd perhaps, that Cawti doesn't have one,
though having a familiar, I believe, is more of an option, or perhaps a
perk of possessing the "secret" spell to obtain one)
Adron + Great Sea,
Miklos + Bolcseseg
Verra + Devera (+ Vlad Norathar??)
etc...

My point is that these familiars can all stave off death to a degree, as is
evidenced in various instances throughout the books:

Loiosh, Rocza, & Cawti have all acted to save Vlad's life in multiple
instances. Mundane, perhaps, but still potent. They are "extra hands"
without which, Vlad would have long since been dead--a kind of
"meta-gaming" of life.
Teldra, Pathfinder, Blackwand and Iceflame have all acted in certain
instances to preserve the life of their wielder.
Adron is not dead despite having been dissolved in a massive sea of the one
thing that is supposedly guaranteed to make you deader than dead.

I don't know if that's relevant in any way, but to cover all the bases...

Anyway, what do you all think?
