[Dragaera] sad sf-related news

Mark,
It isn't about offending or not offending. I'm assuming you aren't an MD
(perhaps I'm assuming incorrectly though). Furthermore, I assume you
aren't an oncologist. I just don't understand why people instead of just
saying something like "Oh no that's terrible, my thoughts go out to him and
his loved ones" feel like injecting their healthcare wisdom into the
internets.
What you said places blame for the extent of the disease on the patient.
The logic you use is the same logic that has people saying "Well she
shouldn't have been wearing that dress...". Just don't do it. You will
always look bad, even if you don't always get called out on it.
Back on topic: I'm shocked that this news came out. I've only recently
started reading the Culture novels. I'm especially shocked at how close to
home this hit, as I also made a widow out of my long time partner. I wish
him all the best as his life winds down.
And if SKZB reads this, and wants to go ahead and send me a plot outline
for the resolution of the Vlad series, I'd love him forever. Well, for a
few months anyway. :)
