I see arguments saying "we haven't truly tried communism", but much fewer arguments that "we haven't truly tried capitalism".

Croneyism is not capitalism.    The U.S. medical establishment is nowhere near capitalism, when the consumer doesn't know the prices up front, and his insurance company argues prices down much lower than he could.    Stockholders have virtually no say.

Now the same argument can be made - that human nature stops us from having a pure economic system.    So, those putting on the labels (Obama is socialist!?!?!?!?!) are using religious labels that have nothing to do with their religion (Jesus Christ was a conservative!?!?!?!).

If we could start approaching reality in these discussions we might learn more.
