Respect for his autonomy?

Seems to be a repeated theme that he doesn't want to put Morrolan in the
position of sheltering a Jhereg, and either the same thing for Sethra,
or just doesn't want to be dependent on her.  Sleeping over in _Hawk_
was a result of his being at his limit and really tired (of everything).

House arrest is typically used as a punishment, after all.  Even if
voluntary, being cooped up all the time could drive him mad.  Better to
take his chances on the wide road.  Especially when he didn't know he
had a son.
