I've never noticed before how much Adron's actions at the end of FHYA seem to resemble Corwin's actions in the 5th book of the Amber series (where he creates a new pattern to replace the old one that he believes is going to be destroyed).

In the end, the results (while not nearly so catastrophic in Corwin's case) are still a source of trouble later on.
