 Thanks for answering my question, Frieda.
I have two problems with that.  One is that Cawti says "We were talking" about spying on Shireth, but you have only her doing the talking.  You can get over that by saying Vlad's amnesia extended backward from when he was hit by the spell (retrograde amnesia of a kind).  The other is that after "a couple of hours", I can't see Cawti calling his name urgently any more.  I'd expect more like tender concern or frustration.  But maybe that's just me.

I was thinking that it wasn’t that his memory was affected.  I was thinking Vlad wasn’t really inside his head.  Cawti kept talking thinking Vlad can hear her.   The last thing he heard and we read is “we have to find her”.  Hours later, when he comes back in his head, he hears and we read “Vlad?”.  He doesn’t realize any time has gone by.
I think sequence is 
“find her.”Cawti talking more.  Vlad not saying or doing anything or hearing anything.Eyes roll up. Vlad falls over.They move Vlad to his flat and lay him on his bed.Hours pass with Cawti constantly saying or shouting “Vlad!?” .Vlad comes back in his head and hears the last “Vlad?”  .
