I expect that's a literary pun.    I tried looking it up in on-line 
dictionaries without success, so those of us with Latin impaired 
vocabularies didn't have a clue.   This happens, I expect I got less 
than half of Ulysses.    I just didn't expect it in a Vlad novel where 
they aren't speaking English/Latin anyway.
