Well, I'm assuming, based on the case of Mellar joining the Dzur, then 
dropping out to join the Jhereg, that if you join another house, you're 
likely going to get kicked out of the first one.

Since the noble houses are rather exclusive "clubs", and don't allow 
cross-breed scum to belong to any house by birth, you are likely going to 
be stuck belonging to only one noble house at a time.
