I doubt there's anything which could stop us from arguing this, or any
other point, ambiguous or not. For instance, Steve comes right out and
says, "Devera's father is Kieron the Conqueror," and some of us are
still suspicious enough to think he's lying. (Hmmm. Vlad says that a
lot, doesn't he? "Of course, she might have been lying.") I'm sure you
can think of some other unambiguous bits of recent novels which have
utterly failed to squelch speculation about their subjects. :)
