An interesting aspect of translation occurs with the mini-series 
_Deadwood_.   This series has a lot of profanity - but it isn't the 
profanity of the time.   To give us the proper flavor of the time, they 
"translated" it into current profanity.

Profanity is weird.    French profanity is religious, American profanity 
has to do with body functions.    Vlad is living in a Dragarean society 
and uses their religious oaths - but I wouldn't call it quite profanity 
(and when he observed something that nobody else did - he incorporated 
it in with his swearing).
