Hmmm... Been too long since reading _Phoenix_. I'd forgotten that Zerika
gave the name of her lover. Given that the Paarfi books were written much
later, it would seem that the _Phoenix_ Laszlo would have been the
inspiration for the _Viscount of Adrilankha_ Laszlo.

Not that it completely rules out the re-incarnation theory, though it makes
it less credible. You'd have to assume that a soul awakened to its past
lives would prefer to identify itself by it's older "self", or at least that
Laszlo would have that preference.
