About the only other reference to scars in the entire series comes from
Dragon, and the personage of Lokran e'Terics:

Dragon, Ch 1, paragraph 54:

[cite]

Lokran turned; he had, apparently, been staring out the window. He was
young, with bright eyes, and had a faded white scar above his brows--the
scar obviously had some sort of sentimental value for him or he'd have
had it removed."

[end cite]

From this, I would gather that a scar is not likely to indicate any
kind of class stigma, or else a reputable Dragonlord would not choose to
leave one unattended.

From this example, I would say the reverse is more likely to be true. A
warrior may choose to leave his scars alone in a highly visible
place--perhaps in order to show that he's been in combat.

Yes, and even if, for example, Savn's father didn't know the spell to
remove a scar, Master Wag certainly would, so in exchange for a few
coppers it could be taken care of.

It's only the Easterners who either can't afford this sort of expense,
or are discriminated against by the healers to the extent that they
can't get the treatment.

A notion: perhaps village physickers are actually "on staff" for the
lord of the demense in which they reside? They could be a service
provided by the local nobility. This would make a certain amount of
sense, seeing as the lord has an interest in having a healthy happy
populace, and providing free health care would be a way to inspire loyalty.

The noble having to support one or two Teckla serfs is a relatively
small price to pay in exchange. This would also explain why Houseless
Easterners can't get this same level of medical care...

We don't see any evidence in Athyra of Master Wag taking any payment for
his services, as I recall...
