Not to mention the extremely naive Paarfi-as-Paarfi-and-Sethra-
as-one-of-his-sources theory, to which I have the honor to
subscribe. This is a branch of the SKZB-was-just-having-cool-
stuff-happen-and-not-building-a-hidden-story theory.

Morrolan, at least, thinks it's dishonorable to defend himself
against false beliefs, or at least Teldra says he prefers
not to do so. I have no feeling in general for what Dragons
consider to be honorable and dishonorable, except that the
results seem to lead to Cool Stuff.
There are analogies in our world--/The Seven Pillars of
Wisdom/ (there seems to be some disagreement on how factual
that is) and other things about T. E. Lawrence, /The Electric
Kool-Aid Acid Test/ and /The Right Stuff/, a TV movie
called /Pirates of Silicon Valley/, Oliver Stone's /JFK/,
and probably many others. (There are also thinly disguised
autobiographical books, such as Kipling's /Stalky & Co./,
which Brust fans should read if they haven't, come to
think of it.) I think the "characters" in these books
usually treat them as beneath their notice or worth no
more than a wry dismissal.
