In my experience, most such complaints stem not from the accuracy of
accent, but the (perceived) nationality of the character and a sense
of... senseless (to me) nationalism. In the same vein, edit wars are
fought on Wikipedia from time to time about the nationality of figures
like Orpheus. Mythical figures, that is.
