Just a comment urging those on this list who haven't read _Cowboy Feng's
Space Bar and Grille_ to give it a shot. Dunno why I've not picked up a
copy for all these years - maybe the title, maybe hearing a few folks
(really) not liking it - anyway, I finally read it over the last two days
and found it engaging and exciting and in parts moving. There are
featuress of the plot and the overall structure that didn't work for me,
at least on the first pass, and grasping all the characters took a
little too long and was a little too much work, but for each of those
points I could cite parallel elements that worked very well. The main
character is certainly of interest to readers of the Vladiad. He shares a
lot of Vlad's characteristics, most interestingly to me the combination of
the heroic and psychopathic and the journey to wholeness I talked about
here in the context of _The Worm Ouroboos_. The novel so far is fitting
in my imaginary phase space of SKZB novels between _Agyar_ and _The Sun
etc_, to me his best and his least interesting novels, which is strange,
but why not.
