Or that he's more than he seems to be? (we knew that). Or that he is likely
to be/become an enemy? (THAT IS NEW) but it doesn't advance things much.

Yes.
We could go further and still feel like we are wading in molasses. She
'woke up' after what, eight years? And in just the most limited of ways.
Vladimir still doesn't know how to communicate with her psychically, (much
) or what she can do for him, or what she wants. He has learned that she
can defend him from a morganti blade, that she will not feed on souls
without his permission (probably), that she needs energy from the Orb or
from eating to heal him, and that she will try.

He could have learned all that from Sethra if he had asked eight years ago.
He might or might not also be able to ask LT questions about where an
attack came from and maybe imagine an answer.

their destinies diametrically opposed to one another.

Or that the Empire and the Gods will be. Or the Empire and Godslayer. Or
Godslayer and Iceflame or something, depending how you read the loyalties
of the Great Weapons, which we know have changed diametrically over time.
It's one of those prophecies that will make sense only in hindsight, and if
there is to be a climactic finish to the story, you would expect a big
conflict of some sort, with the sides unpredictable. Harry's wand vs.
voldemort's. So no new info really.

to finish the job she failed to do so long ago and "hamstring the yendi"
(i.e. kill Vlad, i.e. the destroy soul of Dolivar).

Maaybe. Or not, and maybe she would refuse again. And hamstring means
disable, not kill. A fine point often overlooked.

Still no info.

encounter does open up some possibilities for speculation (such as this)
that had not really been hinted at before.

That is what I was thinking. To the left though, Vlad was probably feeling
just as stuck as I do, because Jhereg, and his work in this book may have
unstuck him! I expect his life to change a lot in the next book.

So far I would call it deliberately ambiguous and teasing, more than
subtle. Unless someone points out some subtle bits I've missed.
