[Dragaera] The Phoenix Guards

Ok, so I just started re-reading TPG and I came across something that made
me burst out laughing while I was shaving.

Steve, you never fail to entertain.

"At the other extreme were the privately owned and built coaches, such as
the famous twenty-two horse carriage of Lothinor, Duke of
Needle-At-The-Top...(which) was capable of such speed that it nearly made
the jump across the Lonely Ridge in the Kanefthali Mountains."

That "nearly" is what made me laugh as I pictured the scene in my head.

Anyway, anyone know what needle at the top means?  I assume it has
something to do with a car manufacturer, like, Mercedes Benz, or Maserati
or something?
