Having finished Tiassa, which I very much enjoyed, I am left with two points of confusion. (If these have already been discussed--I've been avoiding spoiler posts thus far--just point me the right way.)

The first involves Rynend, the Jhereg boss in the Whitecrest section. When Dathaani meets him, on page 184, he and his bodyguard are described thus:

"Rynend appeared with a bodyguard--a burly fellow who looked like his face had been carved out of the same marble as the floors. Rynend himself was small, elderly, and frail-looking."

And yet, but a few pages later, when Norathar pays a visit, while we see the same bodyguard:

"a burly, narrow-eyed man who looked--and no doubt was--much more bodyguard than butler"

we don't seem to meet the same Rynend. To wit, we meet:

"Rynend himself, who could have been from the same family as his bodyguards, except that the cut of his clothes spoke of substantially greater wealth."

That's not a description, given the repeated emphasis on how burly the bodyguards are, that seems to match "small, elderly, and frail-looking."

Conclusion: one of the Rynends is an imposter. But which? And why?

The second involves the timing of Piro and Ibronka's visits to H'noc's brothel. We are told (p. 90) that they visited "maybe half a year ago. Then two or three times after that. The last time was last month." When asked who entertained them, Omlo says "Neritha." He doesn't mention any other names. And yet we're also told that Omlo hasn't seen Neritha "in, I think, about three months." So clearly she didn't entertain them on their last visit. I presume that visit was largely to speak with H'noc about matters of business, in which case they would have seen no one at all. That seems unusual enough for Omlo to mention--but he doesn't. What's his motivation for hiding things?
