Some of the most fascinating reportage I've read in a long time, and I 
think of interest to everyone here.

More or less apropos: I've just reread some of the recent Texts.  And upon 
learning of Bin Laden's death I felt, much to my surprise, among the 
widely varying emotions I experienced, a twinge of empathy from Vlad's 
POV that a man so long hunted by a powerful foe had been tracked down 
and killed.  I'm still thinking about the last line of _Iorich_.
