maybe it helps people heal, in a spiritual way?  hasn't kieron been 
basically pulling an epic teenage angst move and doing the equivalent of 
dressing in black and sitting his room for a couple of hundred thousand 
years?   Founding an empire and getting killed by your own people for your 
troubles (as I understand it happening) can't exactly point toward mental 
stability....
